About the Event
When we hear about "the saints" we often think about Christians who lived faithful lives long ago that still inspire us today. But sometimes their context is so different from ours that it can be hard to relate. So what about more recent saints like Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Day, or Oscar Romero?
Our first study of a modern saint will be about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German theologian and pacifist who was provoked by the cruelty of Nazi Germany to join an assassination plot against Adolf Hitler. After the plot failed, he was arrested and executed at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp just days before it was liberated by Allied troops.
For the first 1.5 hours we will host a watch party of the documentary "Bonhoeffer" directed by Martin Doblmeier. The last hour will be for discussion!
