The Lord’s Supper is one of the central practices of Christianity and it’s something that we share at The Commonwealth every month. Have we given enough thought to why we’re doing it?
Sharing the eucharist seems like it should be a significant experience. But maybe the reality doesn’t always match the expectation. What happens for you when taking communion? Does it ever feel boring or meaningless? Have you ever felt anxious or excluded?
Or maybe the Lord’s Supper is a rich, meaningful, inclusive, and joyful experience for you. Maybe it feels holy in the sense of feeling close to God rather than feeling not good enough. That is the hope!
During this four-week series we’ll explore six biblical images for what’s happening at the Lord’s Supper, look at the ethics of communion through a queer lense, and create artwork that reflects what’s personally significant about the eucharist.
