About the Event

An unexpected blessing of starting this new community is that we have had so many opportunities to engage and learn from people of different faiths.

Some of those experiences have been fun: visiting the Sri Venkateswarma temple, having coffee with the new imam at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, being served dinner by our Hindu neighbors, serving dinner to the mentors and students of Literacy Pittsburgh.

Others have been more somber, like #showupforshabbat at Rodef Shalom after the Tree of Life attack or reading the names of Holocaust victims during the remembrance of Yom Hashoah.

Through these experiences it has become increasingly clear that being a good neighbor in the way of Jesus means knowing, understanding, and supporting people from other faiths.

To that end we are hosting a series of six conversations inspired by the book Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others. Barbara Brown Taylor is an influential Christian author and professor of religion who writes from a personal experience of finding her own faith strengthened by her engagement with the faith of others.

Join us at Panera Bread on Sundays for snacks and discussion!
