Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a somber season of self-reflection leading to the celebration of new life on Easter. Ashes on our foreheads remind us that we are made of “dust and to dust we will return.” Remembering our deaths might not seem like the most fun way to spend a weekday night. But embracing our smallness compared to the history of the universe and the hugeness of God’s love is a path to spiritual freedom. We’ll explore that path by sharing a short liturgy, receiving glitter ashes, eating a simple meal of soup and bread, and making art inspired by Andy Warhol’s Skulls.

We are teaming up with our host church, Community of Reconciliation, for this gathering!
