About the Event
Ash Wednesday ushers in Lent, a somber time for self-reflection (and sometimes self-limitation) in preparation for the celebration of Easter. We receive marks of ashes on our foreheads as a sign of humility - a reminder that our bodies come from dust and one day return to the dust.
It’s a weird thing to do, honestly, and there’s no point in pretending like it’s not. But it feels weird because it’s counter-cultural. It’s out of step with a culture that tells us we can defer death with wealth and accumulation and righteous choices. That we can earn immortality.
If your spirit senses that’s wrong, then please join us for our Ash Wednesday gathering! We’ll receive ashes and wonder together about the spiritual meaning of death.
